Many people have heard of porcelain veneers but don’t quite know what they are. They are very thin shells made out of porcelain that fit over the front of a prepared tooth. Porcelain veneers at Pro Smile Dental Care in San Ramon are used when a tooth is discolored, worn, crooked, or chipped and if the patient is dissatisfied with the length or size of the natural tooth. Porcelain Veneers are also applied to close unsightly gaps between teeth.

Where Do We Start?

Before porcelain veneers are applied, Anthony Nguyen, DDS an expert of Cosmetic Dentistry in San Ramon will consult with you and help you decide what you want when it comes to having porcelain veneers. Your teeth will be examined and we will let you know whether or not you are a candidate for porcelain veneers. X-rays and impressions will also be taken of your teeth prior to the procedure.

Advanced Veneer Technology

After you decide to get veneers we have advanced technology that helps us make this process go smoothly. We use our CEREC procedure to fabricate the veneers. This technology allows us to create and cement the veneers in one sitting in most cases.

Attaching the Veneer

Dr. Nguyen will place the veneer on the tooth to make sure that it’s a good fit and that it’s the same color as the rest of your teeth. Both the veneer and the tooth will be adjusted to make sure that the veneer is a perfect fit. Then, a resin is placed on the veneer and it’s positioned on the tooth. The resin or cement is cured with a special light, and the excess cement is removed. A short time after the veneer has been applied, we will want you to return to our offices for follow-up visits to make sure that everything is going smoothly and as planned.
